Coors Field Main Entrance Built in 1995, Coors Field in home of the Major League Baseball Colorado Rockies.

Pictured here, the home plate entrance to Coors Fields sits at the corner of 20th & Blake Street. The statue that adorns the home plate entrance is titled "The Baseball Player" and is presumably a generic representation of the all-american ball player. The statue was donated by the Rotary Club of Denver when Coors Field was opened in 1995. Many Rockies fans hope to have a player worthy of honoring with a statue someday but as the Rockies franchise is only two years older than Coors Field itself, it may be a while.

In this photo of fans entering the stadium on Opening Day in 2006, signs for Bill Ritter can be seen-who was elected Governor of Colorado in November of 2006.

Colorado Rockies Opening Day 2006 Coors Field History
Coors field opened on April 26th, 1995. The prior two seasons, the Colorado Rockies had been setting attendance records at Mile High Stadium causing the organization to add approximately 8,000 seats to the design after construction had begun. Due to the long, arduous effort to bring Major League Baseball to Colorado and the high capacity of Mile High Stadium (76,273), the Rockies led the majors in attendance in both 1993 and 1994.

A line of purple seats can be seen in the upper deck of Coors Field, which designates 5,280 ft. elevation, or one mile above sea level.
Rockies Opening Day - third base entrance Fans here enjoy the festivities of opening day 2006. In the Rockies early days, they were known as the Blake Street Bombers due to their big name hitters and power offense. This was before the Rockies began to store their balls in a humidor to offset the effects of the mile high thin air. Hitters like Larry Walker, Andres Gallaraga, and Dante Bichette lead a powerful offense that enjoyed early success, first at Mile High Stadium in 1993 and 1994 and then at Coors Field when it opened in 1995. Andres Gallaraga went to the Atlanta Braves in 1998 and Dante Bichette went to the Cincinatti Reds in 1999, effectively putting an end to the Blake Street Bombers era though Larry Walker remained with the Rockies up to the trade deadline of the 2004 season.
